“Kate Pinchuck: Mall Cop. An enigma. A visionary. A genius. These are all words which have been used to describe this 25 year old comedian, mostly by herself. Kate moonlights as an actor and a writer and was more recently fired from her job at a DVD store. She has been rising up in the comedy scene and has performed consistently around Cape Town and Johannesburg, and runs and performs in Lambs to the Laughter, a successful line-up show at the Grahamstown National Arts Festival. She was featured in the 2017 Next Generation Showcase at Grand West and was a semi-finalist in the 2017 Savannah Show Us Your Apples competition.
In 2018, she took on the comic Shakespearean role of Hortensio in the all-female company of the highly regarded production of The Taming of the Shrew at Maynardville Open Air Theatre, under the direction of Tara Notcutt. Kate returned from the 2018 National Arts Festival as a double Ovation award-winner, receiving acclaim for her debut theatrical one-woman show, Medusa Incarnate, which she wrote and performed, as well as her performance as the AI system SUSANN in dystopian future sci-fi , Gaslight.”
